The Sacrament of Baptism is a gift of God for the people of God, a visible sign of an invisible grace. In our tradition and practice, the Session (Board of Elders) authorizes the celebration of the sacrament. At least one of the parents/guardians must be an active member of this congregation. Exceptions to this may be made when at least one parent/guardian is an active member of another church and the child can't be baptized in their home congregation because of a specific circumstance.
